Winning state rank is in the family of S. Delicia Jeslyn, a student of St. Joseph’s Anglo-Indian Girls Higher Secondary School, Tiruchi. She secured the State third rank in the Class X examinations held under the Anglo-Indian Board stream by tallying 483 out of 500 marks (96.6 per cent). Jeslyn who has been studying in the same school from LKG got 98 marks in language, 90 in English, 99 in Maths, 99 in Science and 97 in History and Geography.

It was a double joy for her parents - Selwyn Andrews, a private civil engineer, and S. Jebastina.

For, it was only four years ago (2005-06), their elder daughter Sherene Annabel, who also studied in the same school, secured a State second rank in the class X examinations with 96.2 per cent marks.

It was a big reward for Mrs. Sherene Annabel, an engineering graduate, as she ignored a few good job opportunities she got, just for the sake of her childrens’ educational career.

Incidentally, Delicia Jeslyn’s grandmother, Jessie Jayakumar, is the former Headmistress of the Sarah Tucker Higher Secondary School in Palayamkottai, which is noted for producing State rank-holders.

The school registered 92 per cent pass percentage. The Correspondent, M. Kamaludeen, the Principa l, S. Syed Abdul Subahan, teachers and parents commended the toppers.
