Letters to the Editor
This is with reference to Siddharth Varadarajan’s article on Indo-Pakistan dialogue (May 25). We lack a clear political direction in the External Affairs Ministry. Diplomatic initiatives tend to maintain the status quo rather than achieve tangible results. Even the article tends to suggest that we need to speed up the existing procedures. With the kind of political instability prevailing in Pakistan, one does not know how any substantial progress can be made. It will be status quo even after a year from now. S. Sudhir Kumar, Hyderabad
