Letters to the Editor
The Indian Premier League II has ended in a cordial, colourful and friendly atmosphere. The people of South Africa and the cricket fans there responded with goodwill, brotherhood and sporting spirit to boost the good image of the IPL, India and Indian cricket. IPL authorities have succeeded in keeping the spirit of the game alive. The organisers in South Africa deserve kudos too. J.P. Reddy, Nalgonda Congrats to the Deccan Chargers on winning the tournament. From the “rock bottom” position last year to champions this year was like the rising of the Phoenix. Teamwork won the day for the Chargers.Philip Joshua, Secunderabad The brilliant captaincy of Gilchrist and good fielding enabled the Deccan Chargers to win the final match. Gilly is a great motivator. Kumble is an inspiration for generations. Sansar Lochan, Singapore The season was indeed special because the top four teams making it to the semi-finals could not be judged till the last few matches were played (leaving aside the Delhi Daredevils). The final match was a big surprise as the teams at the bottom of the points table last year made it to the finals. The victory of the Deccan Chargers showed how true leadership can take a team to the topmost position. Tarun Girdhar, Chandigarh
