Family of rankers

Winning state rank is a tradition in the family of S. Delicia Jeslyn, a student of St. Joseph’s Anglo-Indian Girls Higher Secondary School in the city. She secured the State third rank in the Class X examinations held under the Anglo-Indian Board stream by tallying 483 out of 500 marks (96.6 per cent). Jeslyn who has been studying in the same school from LKG got 98 marks in language, 90 in English, 99 in Maths, 99 in Science and 97 in History and Geography.

It was a double joy for her parents - Selwyn Andrews, a private civil engineer, and S. Jebastina. For, it was only four years ago (2005-06), their elder daughter Sherene Annabel, who also studied in the same school, secured the state second rank in the class X examination s with 96.2 per cent marks. Incidentally, Delicia’s grandmother, Jessie Jayakumar, was the Headmistress of the Sarah Tucker Higher Secondary School in Palayamkottai, which is famous for producing state rank-holders.

Jayendra School’s achievement

Nine students of Sri Jayendra Matriculation Higher Secondary School scored above 1,100 marks and 72 students secured over 1,000 marks in the Plus Two examinations. K. Sowmiya (1141/1200) was the school first followed by Pallavi Sarkar (1133) and R. Kiruthika (1129).

School President S. Viswanathan, Secretary S. Kunjithapatham, Director K. Meena and Principal A. Ulagappan commended the students.

Second rank for Shabina

M. Sabina Shalom, a student of Holy Cross Girls’ Higher Secondary School secured State second rank in Business Mathematics with a centum score in plus two examinations. She scored 1,158 out of 1,200 marks to emerge the school second. The youngster was felicitated by the Headmistress and other staff members of the school.

Centum for Alpha School

The Alpha Plus Matriculation Higher Secondary School secured 100 percent results in the Plus Two examinations. A.R. Ganesh (1159) clinched the school first rank, while M. Sundara Pandiyan (1,157) and E. Uttamkumar (1143) bagged the second and third spots respectively. Sundara Pandiyan, Rajsharath and R.B. Sathya scored centum in Mathematics. Alpha Group of Institutions Chairman R. Palani, Correspondent B. Sugunalatha, Managing Director Shiva Prasath Palani and president of Parent-Teachers’ Association Jiyavudeen commended the students.

Commended

Executive Director of BHEL, Tiruchi Complex, and other top officials commended S. Vijaya, Headmistress and other teachers of the Boiler Plant Girls Higher Secondary School, Kailasapuram, for securing cent per cent results in the SSLC public examinations for the third year in a row. N. Sowmiya of the school secured 490 marks out of the maximum 500 to get the district second rank. She was also felicitated by the BHEL officials.
