Test of patience

Irony never had a better occasion. Heavy traffic blockades on the day of the Cabinet’s oath-taking resulted in an awful evening for not only scores of commuters in the twin cities but those rushing to cover the function and even those wanting to get sworn in.

While traffic gridlocks were everywhere, many were put to untold difficulties as autorickshaw drivers either flatly refused to ply, or charged astronomical amounts citing traffic jams. All this, while the Ministers were solemnly taking oath of serving the public for the next five years. Quite an opening for the “service”!

The craze for SMS (Short Message Service) seems to have transgressed from the telly to stage shows. On Sunday, at a dance show organised by Dynamic Dance Zone, a dance-training institute, organisers egged audience to vote for their favourite dance groups and help them win.

Perhaps to add zing to their programme and give audience a different feel, they seem to have come up with the voting system concept. But so obsessed were the organisers that almost after every performance, the anchors, as if taking a cue from TV show hosts, bombarded the audience to vote. After a point, the aping act did not seem to have gone down well with them.
