Professor shot dead in Manipur

IMPHAL: Mohammad Islamuddin, Professor of Economics, Manipur University here, was gunned down by suspected militants on Monday.

Eyewitnesses said four youths, who came on two scooters, sprayed bullets at him near the university library at 12.20 p.m.

Professor Islamuddin was rushed to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, where he was declared brought dead.

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi vowed to track down and punish the killers.
