CBI files charge sheet in Assam blasts case

Sushanta Talukdar

Guwahati: The CBI has filed a charge sheet in a special judicial magistrate court here in connection with the October 30, 2008 serial blasts, which claimed 102 lives and left over 800 people injured.

Sources said 19 people, including the ousted founder-chairman of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB), Ranjan Daimary, were named accused.

The CBI submitted a list of over 100 witnesses on Monday. The hearing will begin on June 9. The CBI was asked to probe the nine synchronised blasts — three in Guwahati, three in Kokrajhar, one in Bongaigaon and two at Barpeta Road. The sources said the CBI got vital leads on the involvement of the Ranjan Daimary faction in the course of interrogation of three NDFB cadres, who were named accused.
