Environmental nod for Cals Refineries

KOLKATA: Cals Refineries, a part of the Spice Energy Group of industries, has received environmental clearance from the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests for its project in Haldia, West Bengal. The company proposes to set up a five million tonne per annum refinery. The West Bengal Cabinet, at its meeting in February, has also approved a special incentive package for the project under the West Bengal Incentive Scheme, 2004. The project involved the transplanting of some of the main process units and equipment from Bayeroil Refinery in Germany.

The company had envisaged a phased investment of Rs. 20,000 crore in the refinery project and in the proposed chemical hub at Nayachar in West Bengal.
