Airline’s offer for transit passengers

Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: SriLankan Airlines has come out with a unique offer to passengers transiting Colombo by extending hotel accommodation service for them at a nominal rate on one of the island’s famed golden beaches.

The extension of Connecting Point Service hotel accommodation programme gives passengers transiting for up to 48 hours the opportunity to relax at a beach resort and enjoy the legendary hospitality of Sri Lankan culture, according to SriLankan Holidays general manager Amith Sumanapala.

The airline already provides complimentary accommodation for passengers in transit for between 8 and 24 hours. And now, passengers whose transit times range between 24-48 hours will be provided accommodation and airport transfers at the nominal rate of U.S. Dollars 10 per head. This service is also for passengers who choose not to take the first available connecting flight.

Nearly 40 per cent of SriLankan’s passengers are those in transit to other destinations. At Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport, passengers are transferred to their hotels in air-conditioned vehicles. Passengers can choose from a dozen hotels of various types within half an hour’s travel from the airport, including those in the seaside resort town of Negombo, and the nearby beach area.

For onward flights, passengers are picked up at their hotels and brought back to the airport well in time. Passengers who wish to obtain this service can request it when booking their air tickets, and the cost will be added to their fare.
