2 girls die of burns

KARUR: Two girl children died of burn injuries they had sustained while cooking in different incidents in Thogamalai police limits in Karur district over the past couple of days.

Police sources Kanya (10) daughter of Muthusamy, a farmer, belonging to Melapudupatti near Rachandar Thirumalai in Thogamalai police station limits suffered burn injuries on Wednesday when she was cooking food at her house. She was rushed to the Government Hospital, Tiruchi, where she succumbed to injuries on Thursday.

In a similar incident, Shanthi (13) daughter of Manikkam, a farm labourer belonging to Kallai Chukkampatti, suffered burn injuries when her dress caught fire while she poured kerosene into the stove on Tuesday. She was rushed to the Government Hospital, Tiruchi, where she died of burn injuries on Wednesday.

Thogamalai police are investigating.
