HOUSE OF HORROR: Kerala’s first house of horror that opened at Oberon Mall in the city on Thursday. KOCHI: Spirits and demons seem to have walked out of their nether world into the city, reminding you of the line from a famous horror movie of the 1970s, “when there is no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth”. The ‘souls’ at the ‘Scary House’ at Oberon Mall in the city love their cosy home but woe to you if you did not heed the omens! The friendly little cottage may have allured you, but trespassing on the property is an unforgivable sin and no apologies are accepted. Time-tattered ghosts do not haunt the house but it is real flesh and blood that gives you a sick feeling in the pit of your stomach. The table is set and you are probably the next meal, but there is no turning back. As you go deeper into the abode of the dead, a good soul points out the heart and kidney of a shrunken shrouded corpse while all the time he’s thinking of your organs. Ghoulish screams, sinister footsteps, macabre groans and ominous thuds are your ‘sole’ companions. You almost kiss the face of death – when an irate soul flings his cot at you. Once out of the house, many thank their lucky stars for bringing them unscathed through the hair-raising experience while a few amble along as though it was a passing dream. Scary House is the brainchild of T. Srinivas, managing director of the Hyderabad-based Crazy Concepts and Mazes and a recipient of the Rajiv Gandhi Siromani Award. It is based on the concept of animatronics – an amalgamation of mechanics, robotics, arts and programming. Entry is priced at Rs.40 and restricted to those above 8 years. People with weak hearts are not encouraged to visit the house.
