HYDERABAD: The TDP adopted a resolution at its Mahanadu here scrapping the existing State and district committees and authorising the party president to replace them with ad hoc panels till the organisational elections. Soon after the adoption of the resolution, party president N. Chandrababu Naidu said the elections normally held during Mahanadu had to be deferred as the annual general meeting was being organised just a few days after the general elections. The party would now constitute ad hoc committees for conducting elections after a membership drive. With increasing demand, youth would be given due representation in these committees and more importantly, powers at every level, he added. ‘Cut ties with TRS’Barring this announcement, the concluding day’s proceedings went on familiar lines though a worker from Telangana made a vociferous demand for severing ties with the TRS during the session on review of the poll debacle. A section of the party leaders of Telangana have been expressing this view, the argument being poor show by TRS and the waning Telangana sentiment. But it was obvious from the top leadership’s studied silence over the issue that it was not keen on making any fresh political experiments as there was no urgency. The review itself did not throw any new light on the drubbing received by the party with speakers sticking to the official line of blaming the Praja Rajyam and Lok Satta for cutting into its vote and poor performance by the Grand Alliance partners. Deeper analysisRounding off the two-hour debate, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said that a much deeper analysis was required as there was no uniform pattern all over the State. If the party won in five Assembly segments it lost in Parliament. While in many districts it won five or more seats it was able to get only one in some others.
