Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Saturday directed the Kozhikode Chief Judicial Magistrate to conduct a fact-finding inquiry into the death of an inmate at the Mental Health Centre, Kozhikode. Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan, while initiating suo motu proceedings on the basis of media reports, also directed the CJM to submit the inquiry report in a week. According to the reports, the inmate Sundaran died after he was allegedly beaten up by a warden and another inmate. The court issued the directive as there were different versions regarding the cause of the death. The court also ordered the magistrate to ensure that statements of different persons regarding the incident were recorded.
