Bangalore: The Yelahanka New Town police rescued a land developer allegedly kidnapped by a gang, here on Saturday. Chinnappa, a resident of Yelahanka New Town and a native of Andhra Pradesh, was allegedly kidnapped by a seven-member gang on May 28. The police, who were tipped off, intercepted a car near Hosakote and arrested the accused, all involved in real estate business. The police gave the names of the accused as S. Shankar (33) of Chittur in Andhra Pradesh, M. Muniraju (28) of Kolar, K. Madhu (33) from Vellore in Tamil Nadu and H. Ramachandra Babu (55) from Kolar. The accused had kept Mr. Chinnappa in a poultry farm in Andhra Pradesh and were demanding a ransom of Rs. 10 lakh. TrappedAs instructed by the police, Mr. Chinnappa’s relatives asked them to collect the money, only to be trapped. The police are looking for three other men. Killed in accidentA motorcyclist was killed on the spot when a sand-laden lorry hit him near Kengeri on Saturday. Muthuray (37), an employee of Bangalore Electricity Supply Company and resident of Jakkur near Yelahanka, died while his colleague and pillion rider Nagesh of Amruthahalli, who was injured, was admitted to hospital . Body foundThe body of a newborn girl was found in a dustbin on 14th Cross Road in Thyagarajanagar on Saturday. The Banashankari police said that morning walkers saw the body and alerted the police. Chain snatchedTwo motorcyclists snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 80,000 from Pushpa (74) near Vasavi temple at V.V. Puram on Saturday morning.
