VIJAYAWADA: The three-day match between East Zone and President’s XI in the NCA under-16 inter-zonal cricket tournament ended in a draw at the Rural Development Trust grounds at Anantapur. In reply to East Zone 225, President’s XI made 177 for one in 39 overs. West Zone will play President’s XI from June 6 to 8. The scores: East Zone 225 in 112.3 overs (U. Kaushik 48, Nakul Raj Sharma 30, Pratik Kaushik 31, A. Raut five for 54) drew with President’s XI 177 for one in 39 overs (Vivek Singh 81 n.o., Vishal Singh 76 n.o.). Rajendran, Toshali winGuntur’s G. Rajendran and Vizag’s Toshali won the State under-9 boys and girls’ chess titles bagging 4.5 and five points respectively at the Sai Prakash Synergy School at Peddapuram on Sunday. East Godavari’s Siddharth Bhaskar and Hyderabad’s Bhansi Pratima finished second with four points respectively. These four players will represent the State in the National under-9 championship to be held at Chennai. Lok Satta President Jayaprakash Narayana distributed the prizes.
