K. Murali Krishna GUNTUR/HYDERABAD: Another Telugu boy studying in the US was attacked and is recuperating in a hospital in that country. Though the attack occurred on May 17, it came to light only on Saturday even as assaults on Indian students in Australia, including that of 25-year-old Khammam boy T.Shravan Kumar, have caused widespread concern in the country. According to reports, Kadiyala Murali Krishna, a resident of Gudivada in Tenali mandal, Guntur district, pursuing master’s course in computer science from the University of Southern Mississippi became a victim of the criminal attack when he tried to ask money from a group of people who took away a case of beer from the mini bar/restaurant at a gas filling station at Gulfport City, where he was working. Hit by carKrishna tried to note down the car number in which the group was fleeing, but was hit by the car and his shirt got entangled in the mud-guard of the vehicle and he was dragged to a distance of 100 metres. The accused persons were arrested and the victim admitted to Mobile Alabama Hospital. Krishna’s mother Kadiyala Samrajyam said that her son underwent a surgery for a fracture in the leg. Tenali MLA Nadendla Manohar told The Hindu on Sunday that Murali Krishna was out of danger. He said efforts were on to secure Tatkal passport for his mother to travel to the US. Murali Krishna’s father Kadiyala Venkata Rao is a small farmer owning five acres of land. He took a loan of Rs.6 lakh from HDFC Bank to send his son to the U.S. for higher studies in December 2007. Shravan off ventilatorMeanwhile, 25-year-old automobile engineering student T. Shravan Kumar, battling for life in the Royal Melbourne Hospital after a racial attack in Australia, was taken off the life support system on Sunday. Though his condition was still critical, there were some signs of improvement, Lakshminarasimha Rao, cousin of Shravan told The Hindu from Melbourne on Sunday night.
