KURNOOL: Police nabbed a three-member gang and recovered property worth Rs. 3 lakh on Monday. The gang had stolen the property from six houses in different localities of the city. Deputy Superintendent of Police Jawahar Basha said the gang members targeted the locked houses and committed the crime around midnight. One of the gang members was an auto driver who easily transported the accused to the target places and back. Because of the easy transport, they could even steal large articles like LCD TV sets and DVD players. The gang members were identified as Sheikshavali of Nandikotkur, T. Gopal (auto driver) and S. Sheikshavali of Muzhafar Nagar. The houses which were burgled by them were of K. Srinivasa Char, Varalakshmi at Venkata Ramana Colony, Muni Swamy of Adityanagar, K. Jayapal of Mahavir Nagar, Ranga Reddy and Ramu in Kallur. The recovered property included 17.5 tolas gold and 1.150 kg silver ornaments. Mr. Jawahar Basha said surveillance was being increased on autorickshaw drivers in the wake of their involvement in many offences. They would be made to wear uniform, display name plates and display the police registered number on the auto. Overcrowding would not be allowed. He said steps were taken to contain the incidents of eve-teasing by deploying decoys and constables in plain clothes.
