Tirupur: A 27-year-old woman created flutter as she staged a sit-in demonstration on the Collectorate premises during the weekly grievances meeting on Monday.

Gomathi, later submitted a memorandum to Collector C. Samayamoorthy that an elected representative of Madathukulam town panchayat had betrayed her after promising to marry her.

She sought the intervention of the Collector to solve the issue and punish the civic body representative for cheating her. Ms. Gomathi moved from the Collectorate premises only after she got an assurance from the officials concerned that her grievances would be looked into impartially.

The Collector received about 100 petitions.
