Lt. Gen. Parmar takes charge

NEW DELHI: Lt.Gen. Naresh Kumar Parmar on Monday assumed the office of Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services. A graduate of MGM Medical College, Indore, he was commissioned into the Army Medical Corps in 1970.
He did his Diploma in Hospital Administration from Pune University in 1980 and Masters in Hospital Administration from the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in 1989, an official release said.
Lt. Gen. Parmar held important appointments of Training Officer at the AFMC, Pune, Commanding Officer of Field Hospital at Hunder (Siachen), Professor & Head of Department of Hospital Administration, AFMC Pune, Deputy Director General Medical Services (Personnel) in the Directorate General of Medical Services (Army), Commandant, Command Hospital (Eastern Command), Major General (Medical), Eastern Command, Additional Director General, the Armed Forces Medical Services, New Delhi And DGMS(Army).
An alumnus of the National Defence College the General Officer was awarded Vir Chakra for the gallantry during the Indo-Pak War of 1971. For his unflinching dedication to the cause of service he was awarded theVSM in 2004 and the AVSM in 2008.
