Expectations soar!

With the Rajasekhara Reddy Government in place for second term, unsuccessful aspirants for Congress ticket and other leaders have intensified their efforts through Ministers and elected representatives to get the corporation chairman posts.

The craze for cars with red beacon and a Minister of State status have led to many aspirants trying to pull the right string to get the plum nominated posts. During the previous term of Dr. Reddy, P.S.N. Raju, Koyya Prasada Reddy and S. Ramakrishna Reddy were rewarded from the district with nominated posts.

With the guessing game on, only time will say who are proved lucky in getting the corporation posts.

City students in big league

Success gives the high that human beings yearn for. Whether it was Arjuna spotting the bird’s eye in the verdant green branches or targeting the Matsyayantra (hitting the eye of a revolving fish seeing its reflection) or the innumerable duels in our puranas or the ancient Olympics success keeps mankind on its onward march though sport stresses the spirit of participation.

The timing of IPL and the elections was so parallel that the two vied for attention holding millions captive.

As soon it is over, it’s the results’ season.

SSC, CBSE Standard X, IIT-JEE, AIEEE and EAMCET- you name it and Visakhapatnam has young achievers galore.

The industrial city is put on the academic top rung by its industrious students.

Poll talk!

Contentment is the crown of life.

This is the adage that elderly people recall to drive home the point that one should be happy with what he has or has achieved.

There are also people who assert that ‘discontentment is the spur of progress’ the logic behind this being a discontented person will tend to work hard to achieve his goal, which ultimately result in progress.

The BJP’s contentment over its performance in the recently concluded elections, which critics call amusing, belongs to the first category.

At a media conference here, its state unit president Bandaru Dattatreya asserted that there was neither disappointment nor despair in his party about its performance, because it had not only retained its seat strength but had improved its percentage of votes polled.

The BJP had put up candidates in all 294 Assembly segments in the State but won only two seats.

It had only two seats in the dissolved Assembly also.

Going by the statement of Mr. Dattatreya, there seems to be contentment over this performance!
