KOCHI: The South Zone inter-State athletics championship will be held at the Maharaja’s Stadium here from August 12 to 14. The dates of the South Zone event and the various State meets were finalised at the Annual General Council Meeting of the Kerala State Athletics Association here. The 53rd State senior championship will be held in Thiruvananthapuram on October 17 and 18. The State team for the National Games in Jharkhand will be selected from this meet. Ernakulam will host the seventh M.K. Joseph Memorial State inter-club championship at the Maharaja’s Stadium from July 31 to August 2, while the State junior meet will be held in Kannur from November 6 to 8. The State sub-junior and mini meets will be held at Calvary Mount in Idukki on October 3 and 4 and the 14th State cross-country championship will be run in Alappuzha on January 10. The selection trials for the forthcoming senior Federation Cup will be held at the Maharaja’s Stadium here on June 11. The association has decided to make registration of athletes compulsory this year and only registered athletes will be allowed to compete in State meets. — Principal Correspondent
