Audi launches SUV Q5

Special Correspondent

The two versions are priced at Rs. 38.29 lakh, Rs. 44.19 lakh

NEW DELHI: German luxury car manufacturer Audi on Thursday launched its sports utility vehicle (SUV) Q5, available in two engine options — 2.0 TFSI (petrol) and 3.0 TDI (diesel) — priced at Rs. 38.29 lakh and Rs. 44.19 lakh, respectively.

Launching the SUV, Audi India Managing Director Benoit Tiers said: “The Audi Q5 combines the dynamism of a sports sedan with Audi’s all-wheel drive to create a superior technology package for both on and off-road driving. It joins Audi Q7 in creating a new market for the smaller luxury SUV admirer in the country”.

“The luxury car market is growing at a faster pace in India and we are targeting that. We plan to sell 100 Q5 SUV this year, and take it up to 500 by next year. Overall, we have set a target to sell 1,500 cars in 2009,” he said. In 2008, Audi sold 1,050 cars in India.

Q5 will be available in all 11 Audi dealerships across India. “India is an important market for us and we would continue to focus on increasing our footprint across India,” Mr. Tiers added.
