NEW DELHI: Olympics bronze medal-winning boxer Vijender Singh will lead the Indian challenge in the forthcoming Asian boxing championships to be held in Zhuhai, China, from June 6 to 14. Besides Vijender, World Cup bronze winner Jitender Kumar and World youth champion T. Nanao Singh are the other pugilists who are expected to shine. Notable absenteeHowever, the notable omission for India will be the flamboyant Akhil Kumar, who could not make the team because of an injury. The seasoned boxer had a hairline fracture in his left hand that forced him take a break. In the place of Akhil, Chhote Lal Yadav will represent the country in the 57kg category. The squad: T. Nanao Singh (48kg), Suranjoy Singh (51kg), Jitender Kumar (54kg), Chhote Lal Yadav (57kg), Jai Bhagwan (60kg), Balwinder Beniwal (64kg), Jagat Singh (69kg), Vijender Singh (75kg), Dinesh Kumar (81kg), Gurlal Singh (91kg) and Paramjeet Samota (+91kg). — Sports Reporter
