Puducherry: Vijaya Bank recorded a thrilling victory over Indian Overseas Bank in the Jeppiaar all-India basketball tournament here on Thursday. The teams were level at 68 with 53 seconds from the clock and then it became 70-all at the end of regulation time. In the extra-time, the match hung in the balance at 76-all, and in the second part of the extra-time, a three-pointer by Murali Mohan swayed the match in favour of Vijaya Bank. Murali Mohan got the Player of the Match award. The results: Men: Vijaya Bank 85 (Murali Mohan 24, Sanjay Rajan 15) bt IOB 84 (Haris Korat 23, Mihir Pandey 23); Western Railway 71 (Viskesh Brigwan 27, Jasjot Singh 20) bt ONGC 59 (Shivkumar 14, Muralikrishnan 13). On Wednesday: Punjab 62 (Jagdeep Singh 17, Mod Singh 10) bt Vijaya Bank 53 (Deivakumar 10). Women: Chhattisgarh 80 (Anju Lakra 24, Seema Sindhu 12) bt Mumbai 66 (Lincy Joseph 26). Friday’s matches: Chhattisgarh vs. KSEB (women, 6.30 a.m.); Punjab vs. Western Railway (8 a.m.); ONGC vs. Vijaya Bank (3.30 p.m.); Indian Army vs. Western Railway (5 p.m.); Southern Railway vs. Chhattisgarh (women, 6.30 p.m.); IOB vs. Punjab (8 p.m.).
