Registration on for guidance programme

Special Correspondent

Kochi: Registration is on for the pre-admission guidance programme being conducted by The Hindu-EducationPlus at three centres in Kerala for those seeking admission to courses in various professional streams.

This is being done for the sixth successive year, having been launched in 2004, the year EducationPlus was launched as a separate supplement with The Hindu in Kerala on Tuesdays to aid students.

‘Looking Ahead: A Counselling Session’ is being conducted at Kozhikode (Calicut Tower, Markaz Complex, opposite the mofussil bus stand) on June 18; Kochi (A.J. Hall, Kaloor) on June 19 and Thiruvananthapuram (Tagore Centenary Theatre, Vazhuthacaud) on June 21. The event is meant to tell students about the dos and don’ts, the strategies relating to the online seat allotment process conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations, provide an overview of the key courses and, in general, set them thinking on the career and course options before them.

The participants will have an opportunity to put questions to a panel of experts presented by The Hindu at an interactive session. Sessions or sections are planned to lay stress on various other areas of topical interest to students.

A handbook with detailed information on courses will be provided free of cost to each participant. Apart from helping the students gain clarity on the different courses on offer, it will outline points to be considered while seeking admission to professional courses.

State Bank of Tranvancore is the presenting sponsor of the event and overseas education consultants EDEX International, Kochi, the associate sponsor.

Entry to the events will be on a first-come-first-served basis and students can register themselves from Friday onwards on payment of a registration fee of Rs.50 each. The forms are available at the offices of The Hindu at the respective centres: Kochi – N.H. Bypass Road, Vyttila Junction, Kochi 682 019, Phone: 0484-2301653, 2307836; Thiruvananthapuram - Airport Road, Vallakadavu, Thiruvananthapuram 695 008, Phone: 0471-2502001; Kozhikode - First floor, Shaaz Building, Near Sarada Hospital, Kannur Road, Kozhikode 673 006, Phone: 0495-2762201 to 4.
