A resident ran from pillar to post for house patta

THENI: Seven-year-old grievance of a petitioner was settled within an hour in Jamabandhi presided over by Collector P. Muthuveeran at Uthamapalayam here on Wednesday.
Kandasamy of Poolanandhapuram village had been running from pillar to post for obtaining house patta for his house for the past seven years.
He had submitted several petitions to all revenue officials seeking house patta. Nothing had been done. But tireless Kandasamy took part in the Jamabandhi and submitted another petition demanding house patta.
On hearing the petition, the Collector verified necessary documents and issued patta within an hour.
Receiving benefits did not end up with Mr. Kandasamy. Like him, several petitioners had settled their grievances. Majority of petitions sought patta transfer only.
A total 77 persons – 13 persons in Erasakkanaickanur, 17 in Cumbum, 39 in Uthamapalayam, six in Chinnamanur and one in Thevaram – got old age pension on the same day.
The collector received 115 petitions, mostly seeking patta transfer, welfare assistance, removal of encroachment and farmers’ identity card.
Mr. Muthuveeran ordered officials to take immediate action on these petitions.
Jamabandhi for 1,418 ‘Pasali’ year at Bodinayakkanur, Uthamapalayam, Periakulam was commenced in the district on Wednesday.
