Special teams constituted

Tirupur: Superintendent of Police S. Santhi has said that two special squads had been constituted to exclusively to recover stolen vehicles.
Speaking to reporter here on Thursday, she said: “Police personnel in these teams are also entrusted with the responsibility of surveillance of busy areas in mufti to prevent vehicle thefts as far as possible.”
Ms. Santhi said that similar squads had been formed at the sub-divisional level to solve the other property crimes that had been taking place in the district.
Increasing vigil
“We have increased the vigil across the city to bring down the incidence of burglary, snatching and robbery,” she added.
Official sources said that Rs 1.64 crore worth of properties had been stolen in the district during the first five months of this year (i.e. calendar year) till May 31.
