Niranjan in good nick

HYDERABAD: P.S. Niranjan, who terminated his contract with the Indian Cricket League, cracked a fine century (151, 19x4, 1x6) for India Cements in his very first match in the domestic league of the Hyderabad Cricket Association against South Central Railway on the second day of the A-division (three-day) league cricket championship here on Thursday.

Niranjan, 65 overnight, completed his century with some impressive strokes on either side of the wicket.

Sandeep, Benjamin shine

In another match, Sandeep Rajan hit a century (130) to help Deccan Chronicle score 354 against Evergreen while Benjamin Thomas, fresh from his ‘player of the tournament’ performance in the Bangalore all-India Pepsi Cup tournament, made a stroke-filled 133 (16x4, 2x6) for Marredpally Colts against AOC Centre.

Shastri shocks Mahindra

The Shastri Soccer Club (Trimulgherry) under-19 squad scored a surprise 2-1 win over Mahindra and Mahindra Club in Mumbai where it has gone on an exposure trip.

Shastri shot into the lead in the 10th minute when Joshua picked up a fine pass from Rahul to find the target.

Within minutes, Mahindra levelled through Nadeem Khan’s spot kick.

In the second session, Yousuf netted the match-winner off a fine through-pass from Rahul.

Basketball tournament

The Sachdev Sports basketball tournament for boys and girls (u-20) will be held from June 17 at Secunderabad YMCA. Entries close on June 13.
