Congress women MLAs hail President’s statement

HYDERABAD: Women legislators of the Congress hailed the address by President Pratibha Patil assuring that the Women’s Reservation Bill would be passed in Parliament in 100 days.

CLP members – G. Kuthuhalamma, Jayasudha, Bangaru Usha Rani, Malloth Kavitha, Mutyala Papa and Kamalamma – in a statement on Friday said the announcement only reiterated the Congress-led UPA government’s commitment for empowerment of women in legislative bodies.

They said the Bill, pending for the last 12 years, was now back into the limelight with the President’s assertion.
