‘Toxin killed fish in lake’

SALEM: A bloom of ‘Microcystis aeruginosa’, a type of blue-green algae, was said to be the reason for the mass death of fish in a lake in Mettupatti in Omalur, according to V. Srinivasan, Senior Lecturer in Department of Microbiology in Selvamm College of Arts and Science, Namakkal.

Following reports that a large number of fish were found dead, Mr. Srinivasan collected samples and conducted an analysis.
