Kozhikode: HIT 96.7 FM, a popular Malayalam FM station in Dubai, has chosen the Kadavu Resorts near Kozhikode as the venue of its fifth anniversary celebrations. It flew in 100 guests on Friday to kick off the month-long programme. The guests are winners of the contests that the radio station organised recently. “We had promised them wonders and the excitement of monsoon tourism which Kerala has in abundance,” said Subhash Bose, senior sales manager, Arab Media group, at a press conference. The monsoon in Kerala would always be an irresistible attraction for residents in the United Arab Emirates who are used to the scorching heat of Dubai It is also expected to give a boost to tourism in Kerala, said Steve Smith, Chief Executive Officer, Arabian Radio Network which owns HIT 96.7 FM station. The programmes arranged at the resort included Mohiniyattom, Kathakali, Karlaripayattu, and a ride by houseboats, all with the support of the State Tourism Department, N.K. Mohammed, chairman, and Unnikrishnan Nair, general manager, Kadavu Resorts, said at a press conference. The guests flew back to Dubai on Saturday. The Dubai government-sponsored Arabian Radio Network has eight radio stations, including HIT 96.7 FM, and is part of the Dubai-based Arab Media group. Hit 96.7 FM had organised a similar event at Athirappilly in 2007 to celebrate its birth anniversary.
