Advani cruises

Bangalore: Pankaj Advani cruised along to a comprehensive win over C. Ravindranath in the league stage of the Raman Nair Memorial National handicap billiards tournament at the East Cultural Association hall here on Saturday.

Advani had notable breaks of 63 (third visit), 122 (eighth), 91 (ninth), 111 (13th), 135 (14th), 232 (19th) and an 88 in the 25th visit for a 1,200-290 verdict and later came back to outclass Micael Rebello 1,200-188 with breaks of 140 (13th), 240 (14th), 103 (21st) and 229 (28th).

Arvind Savur (-600) scored a 1,200-1085 upset win over Rupesh Shah (-1,000) of Gujarat.

Geet Sethi and Devendra Joshi too played two matches each and have a match in hand to make the last-four stage.

Top players from each of the four groups advance to the semifinals.

The matches are being played on a 200-up format.
