British Council’s award for school

Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA: The Akshara International School has been accredited with the British Council’s International School award. This accreditation comes with immediate effect and is valid until March 2012.

In a letter addressed to school principal Saarada Anilkumar, director (south India) of the British Council Chris Gibson has said that the dossier sent by the school for the International School Award (ISA) 2008-09 has been approved and the award will be formally presented at an all India awards ceremony being planned in October 2009. Expressing happiness over the receipt of the prestigious award, Ms. Sarada Anilkumar, at a press conference on Saturday, said that the staff, students and parents played a major role in achieving the ISA and it was the result of a 10-month-long hard work of the entire team.

“Our school is just five-year-old and it competed with schools of a history of nearly half a decade to get the accreditation. Probably, this is the first school in India to get the prestigious certification in the very beginning of its endeavour,” she said.

School chairman Kakarla Anil Kumar and teaching staff were present.
