Special Correspondent

VILLUPURAM : B. Kamalesh (4) of Old Mambalapattu Colony coming under Kaanai police station limits was charred to death and two women sustained burns when a fire broke out in their habitations on Saturday. The police said that initially sparks were noticed in the hutment of Amirthalingam following a short-circuit. Strong winds fanned the flames and six tenements located nearby also caught fire.

Kamalesh, playing outside, ran into his house but was caught in the flames.

Two women residents, Adhi Lakshmi and Kanagarani, who tried to retrieve things from their houses, sustained burns.
