Women empowerment scheme welcomed

NEW DELHI: Welcoming the women empowerment scheme presented by President Pratibha Patil during her address to Parliament this past week, Centre for Social Research Director Ranjana Kumari said enactment of this empowerment scheme would give encouragement to women across the country who face gender discrimination at every level.

“The President said the Government would seek enactment of the Women’s Reservation Bill within 100 days of taking office. Women will have to come to the centre-stage to eradicate the existing gender inequalities ailing our country,” Dr. Kumari added.
