Staff Reporter

MUMBAI: There was tension in Osmanabad after the arrest of NCP MP Padamsinh Patil.

Rajendra Mane, Additional Superintendent of Police, Osmanabad, told The Hindu that NCP supporters threw stones, damaging six buses in two places. An Outside Broadcasting van of a local news channel was also damaged. In Omerga taluka, the Shiv Sena staged a ‘rasta rook,’ demanding Mr. Patil’s resignation.

NCP leader and Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel, reacting to the arrest, said: “We have to wait. Yes, he has been arrested; but we have to await something.

Mr. Patil was one of the few candidates of the Congress-NCP combine to be elected from Marathwada in the recent Lok Sabha election. At one point he was a close confidant of Mr. Pawar.
