‘Action against NEKRTC officials soon’
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The government has received the report on the irregularities that have taken place in the North East Karnataka Road Transport Corporation, and action against those involved would be initiated, Transport Minister R. Ashok said here on Sunday.
Speaking to presspersons here after launching the tree planting programme in Banagiri area of Banashankari 2nd Stage, the Minister said that the irregularities had taken place in 2004 resulting in losses to a tune of Rs. 200 crore to the corporation. Officials had conducted investigation in this regard and have submitted a report, he added.
He also said that the government was considering the proposal to extend Atal Sarige, which is running in Bangalore to provide subsidised travel to the economically poor sections, to Mysore also. On the tree planting initiative, Mr. Ashok said that it was a good move to make tree-planting a participatory approach since people would be more responsible in raising the plants.
