District toppers felicitated

S. Sangeetha (Veveaham HSS Dharapuram), district topper in the Higher Secondary examinations this year, is being feliciated by the Collector, C. Samayamoorthy at Tirupur Collectorate on Monday.

Tirupur: Collector C. Samayamorthy felicitated the district toppers in the recently held Secondary School Leaving Certificate, Higher Secondary (Plus-Two) and Matriculation examinations, at a function held on Collectorate premises here on Monday.

Toppers

S. Sangeetha (Veveaham HSS, Dharapuram), who was the district topper in Plus-Two with 1,175 marks out of the total 1,200 (97.9 percent), R. Suvedha (Oxford HSS, Udumalpet), who topped the SSLC examination in the district with 491 marks out of 500 (98.2 per cent) and S. Gowtham Prakash (Literacy Matriculation HSS, Samalapuram), who was the district topper in Matriculation examination with 486 marks out of 500 (97.2 percent), received cash prize of Rs. 5,000 each, a shield and books from the Collector.

Mr. Samayamoorthy said that girls outperformed boys in all the three categories of the examination in the district with a higher pass percentage. Senior officials of the Education department were present.

Grievances meeting

Later, the Collector received petitions from the public at the grievances meeting organized by the district administration. Members of 13 families from North Cheyur submitted a memorandum to Mr. Samayamoorthy seeking proper rehabilitation for them since they were evicted from their habitation by the Department of Highways to execute a road project.
