Congress councillor attacked

NEW DELHI: Over a dozen young men in three cars allegedly opened fire at a Congress councillor in Sangam Vihar here on Monday night.

Sangam Vihar (West) councillor Azad Singh Bidhuri was returning home from office in his car around 9-30 p.m. when the young men allegedly chased him and fired at him.

He, however, escaped unhurt.

“I had reached the Hamdard traffic intersection when the assailants started chasing me in their cars. After I crossed Tughlakabad, they opened fire at me. I took a U-turn and returned to the Hamdard traffic intersection. I also informed the Police Control Room. A case has been registered,” said Mr. Bidhuri on Tuesday.
