KOLLAM: The Ayurveda Hospital Managements Association (AHMA) has registered its protest against the State government’s decision that no registration was required for anyone above 21 years and with five years experience to become traditional medicine practitioners even if they had no qualifications from an Ayurveda college. At a press conference here on Wednesday, AHMA leaders T.A. Salim, Shafi Thashkent and Anil Kumar said the decision had come as a shock to Ayurveda doctors and students. In such a situation, there was no significance for Ayurveda colleges, they said. They alleged that while Ayurveda doctors were being harassed by the authorities under the label of tourism promotion, overt and covert support was being extended to even massage parlours, some of which were notorious for immoral activities. The second State conference of the AHMA will be held in the second week of September.
