New ration cards, books for fire victims

villupuram:Higher Education Minister K. Ponmudy has ordered distribution of new ration cards and new sets of textbooks and notebooks to fire victims at Thamaraikulam near Maharajapuram .
Along with Collector R. Palanisamy and District Revenue Officer S. Viswanathan and Chief Educational Officer P.A. Naresh the Minister on Wednesday visited Thamaraikulam where seven houses were destroyed and one was partially damaged in a fire that broke out on Tuesday.
Mr. Ponmudy handed over compensation of Rs. 2,000, 10 kg of free rice and dhotis and saris to the affected families.
