Gold dealer from Kerala interrogated
Staff Reporter
CHENNAI: Police on Tuesday interrogated a gold dealer from Kerala in the city in connection with the murder of G. Suresh Kumar, a gold jewellery commission agent. The victim’s body parts were found in three different places in the city on Sunday.
Gopi, the gold dealer from Kerala, was one of the last persons to have interacted with the victim. He told the police that he met Suresh Kumar between 5 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. on Saturday and to sell over 2 kg of gold.
He had handed over the gold.
When Suresh Kumar did not return with the cash, Gopi tried to call his mobile but found that it was switched off. As Gopi had done business with Suresh Kumar before and trusted him, he informed Suresh Kumar’s wife, Bharathi, about the transaction and then boarded a train to Kerala that night.
According to M. Ravi, Joint Commissioner of Police (North Zone), Gopi, who came on his own, would be questioned again. The 2 kg of gold is yet to be retrieved. Around 20 gold dealers would be interrogated and a breakthrough is expected soon.
Police stations alerted
Efforts are under way to locate the missing head of the victim. All police stations across the State have been alerted.
