ENCOURAGEMENT: Secretary for Municipal Administration and Water Supply Niranjan Mardi distributing laptops to corporation school top scorers in the city on Wednesday. MADURAI: Seven top-scorers of Plus Two examination and four toppers of S.S.L.C. examination from Madurai corporation schools would get scholarships for their higher studies this year, Secretary for Municipal Administration and Water Supply Niranjan Mardi said. Giving away laptops to A. Meera and S. Aarthi Prabha, both from E.V.R. Girls’ Higher Secondary School, who stood first in Plus Two and S.S.L.C. examinations respectively, he said Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin would hand over the scholarships in Chennai shortly. Mr. Mardi also distributed Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 10,000 to the students who stood second and third respectively in the 12th and 10th examinations. The Mayor, G. Thenmozhi, the Corporation Commissioner, S. Sebastine, and Deputy Mayor, P.M. Mannan, were present.
