NEW DELHI: With five more suspected cases of A(H1NI) infection reported from Delhi and Mumbai, the Committee of Secretaries on Wednesday reviewed the situation in the country. According to the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry, two cases were reported from Delhi, while three were reported from Mumbai. They have been isolated at the identified health facilities, and swab reports are awaited. The contacts of the positive cases in Delhi and Hyderabad have been on chemoprophylaxis. As of now, no family or social contact has reported any symptom. Azad reviews situationHealth and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Tuesday reviewed the situation and wrote to all Chief Ministers, asking them to review the pandemic preparedness. He wrote to the External Affairs Minister to take up the issue of exit screening in the affected countries. Screening of passengers coming from the affected countries is continuing at 21 international airports, with the help of 223 doctors and 93 paramedics. As many as 42,913 passengers have been screened in the past 24 hours. Of them, 22,121 were from the affected countries. So far, the samples of 205 people have been tested for A(H1N1) influenza, and 11 have tested positive. These include two indigenous cases, who got infected from the positive cases who travelled from abroad. The samples of 10 people are being processed. Seventy-six people were suspected to be having symptoms after screening at the airports.
