All eyes on Gaurav Dalal and Saran Vikram

COIMBATORE: Defending champion Gaurav Dalal of Team Red Rooster Racing and privateer Saran Vikram will look to up the ante in the premium class (Formula Rolon) when the second round of the 12th JK Tyre National racing championship is held at the Kari Motor Speedway this weekend.

Former champion Ashwin Sundar will also be on the starting grid. Ajay Kini, Diljith, Saahil Shelar and Shankar Narayanan are the other exciting prospects in the fray.

In the Formula LGB Swift class, Sudarshana Rao of Team TVS Girling heads the table with 18 points followed by Prithveen Rajan of Wallace Sports and Sudarshana’s teammate Vishnu Prasad with 14 and 11 respectively.

Team Rams Racing occupies the top spot in the Formula Hyundai class with 14 points followed by Wallace Sports with 10.

The JK Tyre Enduro will also be held alongside the main event. It will be a 45-minute affair with a single driver, per car, driving the entire stretch with a provision for one pit stop. Veterans B. Vijayakumar (20 points) and D. Vidya Prakash (13) of Team Prime Racing have raced ahead in the super saloon category.

The qualifying sessions, the opening race of the Formula LGB Swift and the Formula Rolon Chevrolet, the endurance race of the Formula LGB Hyundai, and one race each of the super bike and super saloon class will be held on Saturday.

The main races have been scheduled for Sunday.
