Kozhikode: Talks held between District Collector P.B. Salim and office-bearers of the Kamburam Dharma Paripalana Araya Samajam (KDPAS) have helped to reach a settlement to the Kozhikode Beach beautification project against which residents of Kamburam Beach had reservations. As part of the project, it was proposed that the Kamuram Beach would be levelled and the drains cleaned and covered. A treatment plant would be set up and an open stage would be constructed where public events could be conducted. Kamburam residents were opposed to the project on the grounds that the beautification project would disrupt rituals at the Kamburam Sree Kudumba Bhagavathy temple. Dr. Salim said the open stage project was shelved as a result of the talks. The residents had promised to cooperate with the beautification works.
