SALEM: Members of Communist Party of India (M) staged a demonstration near Salem old bus stand urging the Corporation to take up road works in the city and particularly in and around the old bus stand immediately. The members said that the roads near the old bus stand were badly damaged. Despite repeated requests and reminders, the civic body had failed to take any action to either relay the roads or repair them. As a result hundreds of commuters were put on hardships and vehicles suffered damages. Buses were not able to ply and accidents had become a routine affair. They also urged the Corporation to construct toilets for men and women. Corporation, they said, should immediately undertake such repair works.
