Aishwarya enters final

CHANDIGARH: Lucky loser Aishwarya Agrawal defeated Sowjanya Bavisetti in the women’s semifinals of the AITA ranking tennis tournament at the CLTA Complex here on Thursday. In the final, she will face qualifier Mehak Singh.

In the men’s event, V. Vignesh knocked out the top-seeded Chandril Sood to set up a title clash against Shahbaaz Khan who got past the second-seeded Prateek Bhambri in three sets.

The results (semifinals):

Men: V. Vignesh bt Chandril Sood 6-4, 7-6(5); Shahbaaz Khan bt Prateek Bhambri 7-5, 6-7(5), 6-1; Doubles: Saurav Panja and Manoj Sewa bt Monal Chillar and Rubal Shandilya 6-1, 6-1; Prateek Bhambri and Yogesh Phogat bt Digvijay Singh Mehta and Shahbaaz Khan 4-6, 6-2, 11-9.

Women: Mehak Singh bt K. Bhuvana 6-1, 4-6, 6-4; Aishwarya Agrawal bt Sowjanya Bavisetti 6-2, 6-2; Doubles: Aishwarya Agrawal and Natasha Palha bt Jilke Nelord and Renuka Keswani 6-4, 6-1; Garima Vatwani and Sowjanya Bavisetti bt Anushree Thamanna and Dipti Srivastava 6-2, 6-4.
