Renukacharya moves HC for bail

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Bharatiya Janata Party MLA for Honnali, M.P. Renukacharya, on Thursday petitioned the Karnataka High Court for bail.

Mr. Renukacharya said that on April 20, 2009, the Sessions Judge of Davangere had rejected his petition for anticipatory bail.

He said the KTJ Nagar police in Davangere had booked a case against him for alleged violation of the model code of conduct during the elections.

The MLA said the police complaint was that he had contravened the election code of conduct by making certain remarks against political parties when he held a pres meet in Davangere on Aril 5, 2009.

He said Puttanaik, an election official, had lodged a complaint against him under the provisions of the Representation of People Act and Section 505 (2) of the Indian Penal Code for making inflammatory statements.

Justice Subash B. Adi adjourned further hearing of the case.
