THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Learning material was distributed to students from financially backward families under the aegis of the ‘Guru Mahima,’ an organisation run by the Shantigiri Ashram at Pothencode, near here, on Friday. The programme ‘Utharashree’ was conducted at the LVHSS, Pothencode, and was inaugurated by Pothencode panchayat president G. Vamadevan. In his inaugural address, Mr. Vamadevan said the charitable activities carried out by the Ashram had always been a model to others. The students sponsored by Utharashree who secured A+ grades in all subjects in the SSLC examinations last year were felicitated on the occasion. The ‘Guru Mahima’ was an organisation envisioned by the late Karunakara Guru for the cultural and spiritual progress of girls, the press note added.
